It’s always heartwarming to see friendships between animals of different species. A video from The Dodo showcases such a touching story that made us all say «aww.»
About a year ago, The Dodo shared a video about a golden retriever named G-Bro and his best friend, a deer named Buttons. These two have had a special bond for over a decade.
The story began when G-Bro’s human family found Buttons after she had been hit by a car. The family immediately contacted friends who had experience caring for deer and took care of her until she recovered.
At that time, G-Bro was just a puppy, and the two animals grew up together. Even after Buttons was released back into the wild, she continued to visit the family and her canine friend regularly.
Spring Reunion
Every spring, Buttons returns to introduce her newborn fawns to G-Bro, and it’s a beautiful sight. G-Bro acts like an extra mother to the fawns, being incredibly gentle with them.
«G-Bro is so gentle with her babies,» the dog’s owner told The Dodo. «He loves them, plays with them, but is always careful.»
A Unique Friendship
It’s amazing to see how Buttons trusts G-Bro with her little ones. Deer typically become aggressive if dogs get too close to their young, but this case is an exception. These two animals grew up together, and their bond is exceptionally strong.
Even when they were little, they performed tricks together to earn treats. Buttons is never afraid of G-Bro or worried about how he will treat her newborns.
When Buttons shows up at the door, the family knows she wants to see her friend. If they don’t answer quickly enough, she might even scratch at the door for attention.
These two truly demonstrate what real friendship is, constantly reminding their human friends of it whenever they get the chance.
