This Independent Dog Rides the Bus Alone Every Day—Just to Go to the Park

Most dogs wait by the door for their owners to grab the leash—but not Eclipse.

This smart and independent black labrador has become a local legend in Seattle. Every day, she hops on the city bus alone, rides several stops to her favorite dog park, plays with her four-legged friends, and then takes the bus home. No human required.

“She just gets on the bus, rides to the park, and spends a few hours playing and making friends,” one woman wrote after spotting Eclipse on her daily commute.

Eclipse’s story began when she got tired of waiting for her owner. One day, while they were heading to the park together, he stopped to finish his cigarette. Impatient and determined, Eclipse boarded the bus on her own—and a routine was born.

The bus drivers? They love her. She’s calm, polite, and knows exactly when to get off. In fact, she’s become such a beloved passenger that even the local police have given her the green light to keep riding solo.

Eclipse has taken the bus so many times that most passengers recognize her and happily greet her with a smile or a scratch behind the ears. Some even take selfies with the self-sufficient canine celebrity.

She’s also become something of a social media star. Eclipse has her very own Facebook page where fans follow her daily adventures and celebrate her fearless independence.

“She rides the bus like a pro,” one fan wrote. “Better than most humans, honestly.”

And while many buses don’t allow dogs, Eclipse’s favorite route has made an exception—for one very special passenger with four paws and a love for the open park.

This heartwarming story is a reminder that independence comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes, it even wears fur and rides public transit.
