Two boys from England learned a hard lesson when they were forced to clean dirty police cars with toothbrushes. This punishment has been praised on social media.
After their misdeed, the two teenagers were given a choice: either be charged and face court, or clean the police cars. This was reported by the Mirror.
The two 16-year-old boys chose to throw mud at a police car in the English town of Peterlee. No injuries were reported, but the police were naturally unhappy with the boys’ behavior and came up with a punishment that would hopefully teach them a valuable lesson.
The boys’ parents supported the initiative and provided toothbrushes for the teenagers to clean the dirty police cars.
Peterlee Police Chief Emma Kay wrote on Facebook:
«The consequences of throwing objects at moving vehicles can be more serious than these two realize, and I am sure they had plenty of time to think about it while washing the cars.»
Further, the police chief wrote:
«This is not only an opportunity for the two young offenders to take responsibility for their actions but also for our officers to engage with them and guide them in a more productive direction.»
Their parents fully supported the decision, Emma Kay wrote:
«The parents have been extremely supportive of this decision and are grateful that their boys are willing to think twice before embarking on a criminal career.»
«They even provided toothbrushes to ensure every inch of the vehicles was spotless,» she added.
Many have praised the police and the parents for choosing this form of punishment and suggest that this type of method should be used more often for minor offenses.
