She was one of the most recognizable faces of the 1980s and 1990s – a glamorous star with worldwide fame. Heather Locklear became a household name as Sammy Jo Carrington in Dynasty and later as the icy Amanda Woodward in Melrose Place. But behind the spotlight, there is another role Heather is just as proud of: being a mother.
And today, her daughter Ava Sambora is all grown up – a woman who not only looks strikingly like her mother, but who has also chosen her own unique path in life.
Inherited the beauty
Ava was born in 1997, the daughter of Heather Locklear and rock star Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. From an early age, she experienced life in the spotlight. She appeared at concerts, danced with the band, and even introduced Jon Bon Jovi on stage – far from an ordinary childhood.
Despite having famous parents, Ava has often been described as both grounded and ambitious. She studied psychology at Loyola Marymount University, graduating with top grades. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy at the prestigious University of Southern California (USC).

In 2010, she also walked the runway for her father’s fashion brand, White Trash Beautiful. With her long blonde hair and distinctive features, many see Heather’s iconic look reflected clearly in her daughter.

A close bond
Heather and Ava frequently share photos together on social media, and it’s clear they share a close and loving relationship. When Ava graduated, Heather posted several photos and congratulated her daughter with immense pride.

Love and future plans
Alongside building her education and career, Ava has also found love. She has been in a relationship with Tyler Farrar, who works in real estate, since 2019.
The couple appears calm and supportive – a stark contrast to the turbulent celebrity life Heather herself lived during the 1980s and 1990s.
Looking at photos of Ava today feels like flipping through an old photo album from the ’80s. She has inherited more than just her mother’s looks – she has also gained charm, talent, and strong values.
